How To Reset Waste Ink Counter iP1000: Repost

This is an old topic I had written few years ago in this blog actually. Never mind,who knows it will be useful for new people who follows this blog. When Canon Pixma iP1000 inkjet printer shows message 'waste ink absorber is full' it needs waste ink absorber replacement. But,under urgent situation you can only reset waste ink counter without replacing waste ink absorber. Please check the following steps to reset waste ink counter Canon iP1000.

PROCEDURE
I. Enter Service Mode

  • Hold down POWER button (do not release)
  • Plug in power cable
  • Press RESUME/CANCEL button twice
II. Execute Reset Operation

  • Connect USB cable between printer and computer
  • Set A4 paper size in paper tray
  • Run Canon iP1000 General Tools.exe. Download here if you don't have this EEPROM Resetter yet.
  • Select USB port
  • Click on EEPROM CLEAR check box
  • Click TEST PATTERN button, wait until a pattern completely printed
  • Turn the printer off and exit general tool
